Melbourne-based MSP Consultel Cloud has brought artificial intelligence-as-a-service to Australia through a product collaboration with NetApp.
The service provides a range of AI tech in a consumption model backed by ONTAP AI, a service combining NetApp’s cloud storage tech with NVIDIA's GPUs. Some of the tech on offer include NVIDIA DGX-2 AI research system and NVIDIA T4 GPU for AI inference.
Consultel said the service “creates greater efficiencies” for businesses with less risk and cost than traditional models.
“This offering has been a project we’ve been negotiating to bring to Australia for some time,” Consultel Cloud chief executive Benjamin Molloy said.
“The huge opportunity data presents with AI-aaS for businesses to seek and identify efficiencies in data and processes are endless. We can’t wait to see the outcomes for our clients and their businesses.”
A number of clients have started to line up for a proof of concept, including an unspecified Australian State police force and a television broadcaster.
“We have a long-standing relationship with NetApp, being the first to sign on for HCI (hyper converged infrastructure) in cloud, and now one of the first in the APAC region to offer AI as a service,” Molloy added.
“We are really excited about the possibilities this creates.”
